Jim was the youngest son of William Prescott Prouty and Alma Adele (Stacey) Prouty, born in Cambridge, MA on March 19, 1937.
Jim was employed in the graphic arts/printing industry for the majority of his career, which began as a pressman while serving in the Marine Corps. He retired from the davidM Company (division of the Flint Group), and previously worked for W.R. Grace (Polyfibron) where he traveled extensively covering sales territories throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Canada, eventually being transferred to the Southeast. Jim also owned and operated his own graphic arts supply business, Printers' Service in Chamblee, GA.
Jim had an amazing sense of humor, always a prankster who enjoyed making you laugh with his fun-loving antics. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything, especially if the subject was golf, or the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Ellie.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, James Joseph Prouty, his parents, and his brothers; Prescott William Prouty and Milton Robert Prouty.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory (and bad jokes), his wife, Eleanore Ann (Bayko) Prouty; daughter, Deborah A. Young (John) of Lavonia, GA; daughter, Pamela A. Prouty (Alan Gordon) of East Point, GA; son, Stephen D. Prouty (Janice) of Simi Valley, CA; grandson, Mason James Prouty; sisters-in-law, Beverly Prouty and Catherine Prouty, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is scheduled Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA. The Roswell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please help find a cure for this cruel and undignified disease by donating in Jim’s memory to the Georgia chapter of the Alzheimer's Association: http://alz.org/georgia/in_my_community_donate.asp
