Helen was born in Rome, Georgia February 14, 1957, the daughter of Harold Watters King and Frances Bolton Broach King.
Helen attended Central Primary School and was a graduate of West Rome High School. She was a Girl Scout and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rome.
Helen's college years were spent in Athens where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Georgia. She was a columnist for the Red and Black campus newspaper and while working at the School of Journalism, she enjoyed the connection to the Peabody Awards.
In the Atlanta/Roswell area, Helen was known for doing business as Write Words, as a private contractor and writer.
The King family had season tickets for UGA football. For several years before the UGA home games, a favorite pastime for Helen and her mother was making videos in Sanford Stadium. Helen's mother would ask questions about the visiting team and Helen would answer either seriously or sometimes with a sense of humor. One highlight for the King family was their attendance of the National Football Championship, in New Orleans, in 1980.
Helen was preceded in death by her father, Harold Watters King; her grandparents, Raymond C. and Helen Baumgartner Broach of Macon, Georgia; and Frank M. and Marguerite Adams King of Adairsville, Georgia.
Helen is survived by her husband, Jace Miller; her dogs, Mille, Mac, Morty, Alfie, and a one-eyed bunny named Jack; mother, Frances Broach King; brother, Harold B.
