Elna Paulk Williams, 99, died peacefully on February 29,2016, with her family by her side at Brookdale/Chamblee in Roswell. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 11:00 AM in Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell. Memorials may be made to the Roswell Humane Society on Mansell RD. She was born January 18, 1917 to Herman and Lydia Plambeck and grew up on the family farm with her siblings, Herb Plambeck, Martha, Elizabeth Schmidt, Helen Pfitzenmaier and Irma Wilson. She graduated from Davenport High School and the American Institute of Commerce, also in Davenport, and later taught school and was a secretary at a business college.
Elna married George Cudney Paulk, Jr. in 1941 and moved to Atlanta where he opened a successful chiropractic practice and together raised their three children until his death in 1970. She later married Jay D. Williams and they lived in Roswell until his death in 1994.
Family and friends were Elna’s love and joy. She delighted in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and to the end of her life always made sure there was a special cookie or snack on hand whenever a visitor dropped by. She leaves a legacy of faith, courage, compassion and a life-long love of all God’s creatures.
Elna was preceded in death by her son Gregory Brent Paulk. She is survived by her son George C. Paulk, III., of Woodstock, his children Crystal Paulk-Buchanan and Melody Dunn; her daughter Linda Paulk Hughes, of Greensboro, and her children Autumn and Billy, and two great grandsons. Also surviving are three stepsons, Jay. D. Williams Jr. of Pensacola, Fl, Wayne Williams of Jacksonville, Fl, and Gary Williams of Boerne, TX, their families; and nieces Judy Stephens and Kathy Cirillo of Iowa.
