Dave was happiest with his family; a proud father to five daughters, two grandchildren and many adopted daughters and sons from church and friends. He welcomed everyone to be a Brooks - the more the merrier. Any sunny afternoon spent golfing or playing with his grandkids was a good day. He loved his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ and knew families can be together forever. He was passionate about quietly helping others and felt blessed to be able to help so many.
He was born on February 24, 1958 in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He graduated of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1981. He met his wife Darla in Provo and they were married in Mesa, Arizona in 1978 and spent 39 wonderful years together. Dave worked in commercial real estate in Atlanta since 1985.
Dave is survived by his wife Darla Jean Menden Brooks; mother Marion Mishoe of Woodstock, Georgia; five children: Kelli Brooks of Bethesda, Maryland; Kristan Brooks of Roswell, Georgia; Caisa (Dan) Warcup of Denver, Colorado; Shannan (Evan) Monson of Augusta, Georgia; and Samantha (Ryan) Looney of San Juan Capistrano, California; and two grandchildren Noah and Minnie Monson. He was preceded in death by his brother Stephen.
A service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3155 Trickum Road, NE, Marietta, Georgia at 4pm on Saturday, October 14, followed by a celebration of life and stories about Dave.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund or LDS Missionary Fund to continue Dave’s passion of helping others.
