Born in Pekin, IL in 1939 to her parents, Paul and Alvina Stanton. She was the youngest sibling to her brothers Robert and Richard (Bunk).
After graduating from Pekin High, her life led her to several states across the country before landing in Roswell, GA in 1980. It was there that she met her beloved husband, John Norton. They blended families and lived happily, doting on their children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alvina Stanton, her brothers, Robert and Richard Stanton, her husbands, Jack Nicolet and John Norton, her grandson, Samuel Berry, and her son-in-law, Kurt Kegel, as well as several members on the Norton side.
Her Memory will be cherished by her daughters Julie Spear, Nancy Kegel, Laura Freeland, and stepchildren,
Rebekah Hammer and Patrick Norton.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she delighted in them all. Sam,Charles, Amelia, Brady, Colin, Olivia, Anna Claire, Evan and Mathew.
She also treasured her God-daughter Elizabeth.
Darlene most loved entertaining with her family and friends, spending time on her deck listening to music and enjoying nature. She was so generous and kind and no one stayed a stranger for long. She made friends everywhere she went. She helped numerous people when they were in need and she became a Mom and Granny to so many. She will be greatly missed. Fly High Darlene!
There will be a celebration of life on February 25, 2023 at 8960 Martin Road, Roswell 30076 from 2-5 p.m.
