I had the privilege of teaching alongside Christine at Hickory Flat Elementary many years ago!  What a delightful character!  Christine was a dedicated educator who cared for her students, and her love for family and friends was unparalleled.  One of my fondest memories is when we took our students to the Atlanta Braves Stadium.  The kids loved seeing the locker rooms of their favorite baseball players and the facility.  She was so proud to be the sister of such an esteemed sports media family.  I will always remember her grace, her kindness, and her smile.  Condolences to the entire Johnson family.  She will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was my favorite teacher of all times. I learned so much from her and I will always remember her. Prayers for the  family.

Chris created the Reindeer Challenge for our hooking group. She gathered all kinds of unusual items as awards for us.  With great humor she would announce awards like “Most Improved” and award the recipient with a ceramic monkey or a treasure she found on a sale table at Walmart. I still have a snow globe with a reindeer slightly detached that she gave me.  In this picture she is wearing her crown at one of her Christmas ceremonies. It is complete with batteries so it would light. She spread fun and laughter and I will miss her.

I was a lunchroom lady at Hickory Flat ES  got 25 years and always looked for Chris to come in with her class.  She was always smiling, had a hello & a kind word, and made us “cooks” feel special.  She was a very talented lady and in the year 2015 when I lost a Schnauzer at 6 1/2 years old, made me a rag quilt out of kerchiefs he wore home after grooming.  I had retired in 2009 and I think she was also.  I was blessed to go see her beautiful garden of trees, bushes and flowers and her little cottage she had built years later.  Her love of dogs was truly amazing as was a special “purple jeep” she owned at one time.  It was as unique as she was amazing, though I’m not sure if it is still around.  I kept up with her when I left Hickory Flat always with a birthday card and then a Christmas card.  I realized she hadn’t posted on Facebook in awhile but had no idea she had been sick. Wished I would have known and been able to give her a call.  I know she’s using her angel wings to plant some beautiful flowers and that she’ll keep us in her thoughts for always calling her friend.  Rest in Peace our sweet Chris.  You will always be in our thoughts and memories!!!!  Much love…Ms. Pat.

Like so many of us who had the privilege of teaching with Chris at Hickory Flat Elem., here in Cherokee Co., we are extremely sad that she has passed away.   We both started teaching in the county at the same time and I can remember the first gathering at the county office where we were all being introduced to each other.  The gentleman leading the introductions said someone in this group has a famous father who is an announcer for the Atlanta Braves.   That was in 1979.   Of course that would be the late great Ernie Johnson.   And I will add that Chris adores her brother, another Ernie Johnson.   She loved her family!!
 In later years, I had the privilege to work at Hickory Flat Elem. and that is where we reconnected.  Chris taught 6th. graders and they LOVED her dearly.  Each year she lined the hallway walls with huge sheets of paper where she and the students wrote in which team was winning the brackets for the Spring national  basketball tournaments.    Chris especially enjoyed her students who seemed to need a little extra attention.   One of those was  a 6th. grade young man who  needed some kind attention.  She gave him a photo of her father.   He laid it on his desk and placed four pencils on the outline of the photo and then placed a sheet of notebook paper on the top of the pencils.  He told her he didn't want it to get dirty and he didn't want anybody touching it.   All of us who had the privilege of working with Chris have stories to tell about her kind acts.   
     We all will miss her sense of humor.  If you were around Chris, you were probably laughing.   Rest In Peace, Chris, and thank you for the memories.   God bless you, friend.

Having her as 6th grade teacher is one of my best school memories.  All my love and condolences to the family and friends!!!

I had the privilege of calling Chris one of my most cherished friends. We were part of a wonderful rug hooking community where her creative spirit always shown through to inspire the rest of us. Her sense of humor was above and beyond, always keeping us in high spirits. Most important was her kind, warm spirit of giving. She gave all of herself, at all times.
I will dearly miss her presence in my life and will carry her spirit with me all the days of my life.

She was a magnificent teacher. I had more fun and learned more in her class than in any other; she was so creative and passionate. I will be forever grateful for the invaluable grammar and writing foundation she gave me.

My most sincere condolences to the Johnson family.

Chris Johnson was my teacher nearly 40 years ago.  I became a teacher too, and the example of her humor and enthusiasm still influences my teaching every day.  I'm sure there are thousands of other former students who would say the same sort of thing.

Chris was a tremendous asset to our Hickory Flat community. Her students loved her style and were rewarded with a thorough grasp of grammar. I could always pick her students out when they got to high school. I’m grateful my children had the good fortune to have her as a teacher.

Mrs. Johnson was the best teacher I could ask for at Hickory Flat. FUN LOVING AND ALWAYS WANTED us to try our best. Keep choppin on Ms. JOHNSON.
