She is survived by her children Kathleen (the late Anthony) Laskey of Shelby Township, MI; Kenneth of Marquette, MI; Karyl (Phil) Poirier of Ormond Beach, FL and Richard (Pam) of Bath County, KY as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Rocco, son Robert and granddaughter Amy (Poirier) Bjornstad.
Jennie joined the Army during World War II, serving in Europe, and met the man who ended up being her husband for 53 years. She taught school for 30 plus years in Minnesota and Michigan, providing knowledge and positive influence to approximately 1,000 children. She also helped raise 5 children of her own.
She had a long active retirement in Ormond Beach, Florida which included travel, bingo, an exercise group, reading and many, many crossword puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Halifax Hospice in Daytona, Florida, or local Hospice near you.
A memorial service is planned for the near future.
