Bradley James Penning of Warren, 69, passed away in his home on August 27, 2024. He is survived by his children, Cody Penning and Casey Penning; his grandchildren, Ava Penning, Barrett Penning, Lexus Penning, and Lucas Jones; sister Patti-Jo Penning Roberts; and brother Andrew Penning. He is predeceased by his father Robert Penning, mother Barbara (née Rabold) Penning, brothers William Penning and Bobby Scott Penning, and sister Roxanne Penning Raby. He was a father to Austin Clute and Justin Hill.
Brad was known for his clever ability to make machines run, and was “one with the machine”. Guns were a favorite hobby, too, and he was well-prepared for any apocalypse. He loved a good conspiracy theory and often spoke at length about them. When Brad gave someone his time, it was a rare and special gift. He lavished that gift upon his select people.
Brad worked for B & M Ashman for most of his adult career and was highly respected in telecommunications. He was the first person in Michigan to understand and correct a major problem with optical fiber, known as Sweep and Cert. Radiofrequency, broadband, and fiber optics were his specialties. As a young adult, he worked for his father at Campers Corral repairing generators, a complicated task. He read the manual once and was instantly an expert. He understood machines and was always under the hood of a vehicle.
Visitation will be at Kaul Funeral Home on 27830 Gratiot Ave, Roseville, MI on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, MI.
