Ron was born on July 5, 1930 to Nosmo Odell Hall and Jewell (Paris) Hall in Oklahoma City, OK and graduated from Central High School in 1948. Go Cardinals! He met the love of his life, Virginia Dare Gaylord, in Oklahoma City at the local swimming pool on the day Virginia graduated from the 9th grade. She thought he was a bit cocky, but Ron did not give up. They were married on October 15, 1949 and together they raised their three children in Midwest City, OK, Hawaii and Roseville.
Ron joined the Oklahoma National Guard 45th Infantry Division at the young age of 16 and proudly served in the Korean War. Later, he transferred to the US Army Reserve where he retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. After returning from Korea, he began his civil service career at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. He also worked at Wheeler and Hickam Air Force Bases in Hawaii and McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento where he retired in 1988. He was a fearless traveler and his jobs gave him the opportunity to see the world and enjoy all the foods his travels had to offer…except liver.
Ron was extremely devoted to his family. While living in Oklahoma, the Halls spent many weekends exploring and picnicking throughout the Sooner state. The best memories were trips to Turner Falls, Roman Nose State Park, Anadarko and Lake Tenkiller, just to name a few. All they needed was a jug of Koolaid and pimento cheese sandwiches and they were good to go! Later they enjoyed exploring the Island of Oahu with a family of five squeezed into a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. The kids said that was OK until he thought it would be fun to take them all very uncomfortably to a drive in movie. He was also an avid golfer. He golfed in the cold, heat, rain, sleet and snow. Nothing kept him off the golf course…except when the family was waiting for the birth of their first granddaughter, Stacey. Unfortunately, she was born over a month late. He claimed his golf game never fully recovered.
Together Ron and Virginia raised children Kaye, Gayla Barker (LeRoy), David (Dorothy) and were proud grandparents to Stacey Albert (Mark), Claire (Jordan Ulrich) and Kyle and uncle to his nieces and nephews. He also loved his fur babies and held a special place in his heart for his beloved Yorkie Sophie.
Ron was an active member of the Roseville Elk’s Lodge 2248 where he served as a trustee and gave numerous hours fundraising and participating in community service activities.
Ron was predeceased by his older sister, Wanda, and younger brothers Jerry and Jimmie Joe and his loving wife, Virginia.
