Robert “Bob” Clarence Rippentrop was born April 9, 1933, in Elmore County Iowa. He grew up on a farm in Minnesota with his parents, Benard “Ben” Rippentrop and Alice (Ites), his brothers Ray, Alvie, and Tom Rippentrop, and his sisters Genavive Davis, Onie Wilner, Dorothy Wilner, Ida Haugen, and Ruthie Rippentrop.
Bob was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and was stationed at Fort Ord located in Monterey California. He met his wife, Lois Borelli, one weekend on leave at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk during a dance at the Coconut Grove. They were married October 9, 1955. Bob began working as a Plumber’s Apprentice and continued as a plumber until he retired at the age of 55.
Lois and Bob raised four children that they enjoyed watching play sports in Mountain View, California. Bob even was the Head Coach a few years coaching Babe Ruth baseball. He was a hard worker, but was always ready for a party and enjoyed being social. His hobbies included bowling and golfing. He especially loved watching his San Francisco Giants baseball team and playing Blackjack at the casinos in his later years. Bob was very proud of his family and loved being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob died at the age of 90, July 30, 2023 in Roseville, California. Survivors include: his four children, Robert (Helen) Rippentrop (Blue Springs, MO), David (Kelly) Rippentrop (Vancouver, WA), Kevan (Katie) Rippentrop (Los Altos, CA), and Judith (Fred) Mazure (El Dorado Hills, CA); Grandchildren: Nicole Roy, Michelle Blackburn, Cort Rippentrop, Brad Rippentrop, Bryan Rippentrop, Berlyn Gugale, Payton Rippentrop, Ryan Rippentrop, Jamie Mazure, Jason Mazure, and Ben Mazure: five great grandchildren and two more great grandchildren on the way, and Sister-In-Law LaVon Rippentrop.
He in preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his wife Lois of 49 years of marriage, and Daughter-In-Law Kelly Rippentrop.
Services will be held at the Gate of Heaven in Los Altos, California on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 11:00 am. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org)
