Gary was born on August 9, 1940 in Sacramento, CA. He graduated from Norte Del Rio High School and went on to attend American River Community College. After college he joined his father, Charles Brockman, in the family business, Roseville Van and Storage. He later took sole ownership of the business and retired in 2004. He was quite honored that the family business had been the preferred moving company in the Roseville area for over 50 years.
Gary and Sherry met on a blind date in 1961, married in 1963, and brought four children including twins into their lives. Family was his pride and joy. He was a great father and husband. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his cabin at Lake Tahoe. He was a member of The Sunrise Sams RV club and enjoyed traveling with the club as well as throughout the western United States with Sherry. Gary was a member of the Roseville Elks Lodge and a long time member of the Silver Star Parlor #63-Native Sons of the Golden West-Lincoln, CA. He most recently served as first vice president and was instrumental in the restoration work of the Parlor’s antique buggies. He also enjoyed being a volunteer with the Lincoln Area Archives Museum. Restoring antiques and wood furniture was a lifelong hobby. Gary was always on the lookout for antiques to restore and add to his homes.
A private burial will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be given to Green Valley Hospice, 3009 Douglas Blvd., #160, Roseville, CA 95661 or the Silver Star Parlor #63-Native Sons of the Golden West-Lincoln, c/o Tom Jones, 531 Lincoln Blvd. Unit B, Lincoln, CA 95648.
