Chester Gus Boyd

Chester Gus Boyd was born Sept 12, 1933 in Stuart, OK to Thomas and Kissie Boyd. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Roswell, New Mexico where he started school. In 1942 the family moved to Delhi, CA. Eventually the family settled in Newman where he lettered in Football as the center at Oristemba High where he graduated in 1952.

He entered the U.S. Army on May 23rd,1953 at Fort Richardson, AK. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal at Fort Ord in 1955. On June 23,1955 he married Beaulah Brainard and settled in San Jose. CA. He worked for Lockheed as a Technician for 40 years during which he also earned his AA degree from San Jose City College. He and his family enjoyed many camping trips and many drives to Delhi to visit family. He was an avid SF Giants and 49er fan. Upon his retirement, he and Beulah sold there home and moved to Rocklin, CA in August 2001

He enjoyed his dogs Reesy and Ginger and his two cats Tyga and Cooper. He served as a greeter for many years at Bayside Adventure Church where he was active in 55Alive, his bible study group. He loved musicals and would sing the songs around the house. Upon a diagnosis he was moved to the memory care facility at the Villas in Rocklin. Here he continued to do what he loved which was puzzles and singing. Everyone who encountered him loved his humor and charm due to his love of Jesus Christ. He went home to be with his Lord on October 29th, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beaulah and his siblings, as he was the youngest of 8. He is survived by his four children, son Greg Boyd of Florida. daughter Brenda Harlow (Ron) of Sacramento, daughters Lynda Thorsteinsson and Vickie Boyd of Rocklin, nine grandchildren,

Jason, Brandy, Greg, AJ, Lisa, Stephanie, Dallas, Troy and Riley, and seven great grandchildren.
