Archie “Chuck” Jones was born in Amarillo, Tx on October 28, 1963 to Archie Jones Sr. and Cornetta Shead. He was the sixth child out of ten children.
Arriving in Sacramento, California at an early age, it was then Archie gave his life to Christ. He was baptized by Reverend Arthur Brown and joined Del Paso Union Baptist Church. He sang in the choir, was a huge contributor in the Men’s Fellowship, and faithfully serviced his pastor and congregation.
Archie graduated from Norte De Rio High School in 1982 and soon after he joined the United States Navy. Archie was stationed at the Navel Base in San Diego, California in 1983, and then at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, California where he worked as a Pharmacy Technician. He served 4 years Active Duty and was Honorably Discharged in 1987.
Following Archie’s career in the Navy, he married Deborah Hicks on July 25, 1987.
Together they had three children and they resided in Sacramento, California before relocating to Roseville.
Archie worked in the Health Care field for 34 years. Working in Pharmacy for 17 years, then working at BloodSource for 17 years in his recent position as a Supervisor in Hospital Services.
Some of Archie’s passions in life included playing golf with his nephews and close friends, spending time with his family and friends, dancing with his beloved wife, and enjoying movie night with his daughters. Archie coached High School Varsity Boys Basketball at Grant Union High School and John F Kennedy High School, taking his Grant Union High School team to the California State Championship in 1999.
Archie will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Deborah, his children Ashley, Kortney, and Bianca. Archie will be fondly remembered by his grandson Dominique Anthony Walker Jr., and by his siblings Mary, Dickie (Ella) Shead, John (Gwen) Shead, Ruthie (Carl) Tillman, Connie, Tonya, Ronald, Randy, Anthony (passed), as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
