Born in Montreal, QC, Reg was the son of Ivy and Leslie Overing. Beverley, his beloved wife of 62 years, predeceased Reg, as did two of his sons, Bill and Steve, and his younger brother, Peter (Hilke). Remaining and remembering are : his children, Linda (Ivan), Gordon (Nathalie), John (Caryl), Julie (Mario); his grandchildren, Matt (Diana), Erin (Christine), Andy (Laura), and Mike Silver, Tyler (Liv) Smyth-Overing, Ali (Alex) and Anthony (Olivia) Overing, Andrew (Alex), Chelsea, and Liam Overing, Mackenzie and Maxwell Mondo; his great-grandchildren, Hendrik Overing, Lake Silver-Campbell; his sister, Lynn (Dick) Vaillancourt; his sister-in-law, Rosemary (Dave) Gray-Snelgrove; his brothers-in-law, Frank (Sue) Gray, Mike (Sue) Gray; his many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
At one point in his long working years, Reg travelled extensively through Scandinavia, Great Britain, and the United States. Although often absent, leaving Bev in charge of their six, sometimes unruly, children, the mementos he brought back filled our home, telling us that there were worlds out there to explore and know, planting the seeds of wanderlust we each grew in our individual ways.
Once we were launched, Reg and Bev embarked on their own adventures, this time, together. They learned to sail on Lac St Louis, then took their new skills to the British Virgin Islands for many great holidays. They cruised to Alaska, travelled the waterways of European countries, spent time with their grandchildren in Florida.
When Bev was diagnosed with breast cancer, and set out for treatment, she said to Reg : Off we go on a new adventure!
Off you go on a new adventure, Dad. Bevie’s been waiting for you.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for a later date. If desired, donations to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will be appreciated by all of Reg and Bev’s remaining family.
