A native Roman, she graduated from Coosa High School in 1965. Mrs. Noble then received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Shorter College (now Shorter University) and also obtained her Master’s degree in education from Georgia State University. An educator at heart, Mrs. Noble taught at Georgia School of the Deaf for several years and worked with Headstart. She was an avid sailor who loved racing her Catalina 22 around the South and taking relaxing sails with family and friends around Lake Weiss in Alabama. She also had a passion for gardening, viewing wildflowers, and caving.
Within the community, she was a member of the Camelia Garden Club and Garden Clubs of Georgia, and was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Rome. She also enjoyed teaching her children’s Sunday school classes, and was an active leader in area Boy Scout groups.
Mrs. Noble is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert E. Noble, of Rome; their two children, Bert Noble, of Cartersville, and June Noble, of Rome; her four siblings, Kelli Doettl, of Rome, Jim Davis, of Rome, Jill Davis, of Rome, and Kim Rhyne, of Enterprise, Alabama.
The family received friends Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Garnet Wilder Center of First United Methodist Church of Rome. A memorial service was held Sunday, May 8, 2016, at 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Rome, with the Rev. Dr. Gil Watson and Dr. Robert Brown officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to the Northwest Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 1422, Rome, GA 30162, or the Ossabaw Island Foundation, 305 Fahm Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
