Judson was born September 18, 1950 in Huntsville, Alabama. She was the oldest daughter of the late Kenneth Akin and the late Martha Doyle Moore Akin. She was a graduate of East Rome High School in 1968, and furthered her education attending Reinhart University and Georgia Southern University. She was most recently employed with the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, and was previously employed by Floyd Medical Center, the Rome Division of Child Support Services, Legacy Marketing Group, DermaTran Health Solutions, and the US Postal Service. In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her first husband Frederick Lyons, a brother, Henry James Akin, and her sweet aunt Jean.
Judson is survived by the love of her life son Daniel Kenneth Scarborough and his wife Amanda, brother Andy Akin and his wife Stacy, brother David Akin and his wife Terrae, sister Jessie Miller and her husband Harvey, her step-grandchildren Emily Sarge and Jana Payne, nieces Emily Lancaster and her husband Pierce, Jenny Taubel and her husband Wes, Katy Shaw and her husband Jason, Karlee Lambert and her husband Ethan and daughter Lennox, Kaylee Akin, Elise Garcia and her husband Christian, and nephew Seth Akin and his girlfriend Kylie Tucker, several beloved caring neighbors and her cat Abby.
Judson loved to travel, reading, and watching Tiger Woods play golf. She was a lover of animals, always sharing posts online of people who had missing animals in an attempt to help them be reunited. She was an excellent cook, and we will all miss her deviled eggs at any holiday or family gathering.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 1:00pm at the chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home on Second Avenue, Rome. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Judson’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Rome/Floyd Humane Society.
