Mary Frances was born in Atlanta, GA on March 26, 1936, daughter of the late Harvey Paul Lachman and Katie Lavada Culberson Lachman. She grew up in Rome and was graduated from Rome High School. Mrs. Kelly was very active in church and taught Sunday school at West Rome Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and loved to sew. Mary Frances was lovingly remembered as a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband, James Harry Kelly, to whom she was married March 11, 1955; three daughters, Kathy Lynn Hix (Alan), Susan Julia Sims (Peter) and Katie R. Woodring (Jeff), all of Rome; grandchildren, James Daniel Kelly, Kelly Noelle Farmer (Josh), and Jeffery Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Mollee and Jax Kelly; two sisters, Bonzie Sue Griffin of Rome and Shirla Fay White of Moosejaw S.E. Saskatchewan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Whorton and Dr. Alan Hix officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 4, 2016, from 12:30 until the funeral hour.
