Edward Lee Brock Sr.

Eddie graduated from Rome High School and, following graduation in 1950, married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Edge of Atlanta, Georgia. Before she died in 2015, Ed and Mary Ann celebrated 65 years of marriage.

He studied Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology while working as a Planner for Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA. He was the co-founder and president of Eddie Rents, Inc., a chain of three rental stores in NW Georgia, with his wife Mary Ann and son Eddie Brock Jr.

Eddie enjoyed fishing and had a passion for constructing and piloting experimental aircraft. He was also a great father who enjoyed activities like bicycling, building tree houses, and exploring the rivers and forests of Northwest Georgia with his six children.

He is predeceased by his parents, Macon and Florence Brock, wife Mary Ann Edge-Brock, brothers Al Brock, Bob Brock, and Joe Brock, and his granddaughter Elizabeth Kelley Watters.

Eddie Sr. is survived by his six children and their spouses, Eddie Brock Jr. (Harriett), Carolyn Buchanan (Jerry), Bill Brock (Laurie), Sue Lane (Gary), Betsy Smith (Eric), and Leigh Barba (Piero), his18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Eddie Sr. was a multi-year survivor of cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to ‘Cancer Navigators of Rome, Georgia (cancernavigatorsga.org).

A service will be conducted Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Thomas B. Griffin Chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home. Entombment will follow the service at the Myrtle Hill Cemetery mausoleum.
