Charles Edward Woody of Rome, GA, formerly of Orlando, FL passed unexpectedly on May 4, 2023. Charles was born on September 3rd, 1944 to Henderson and Annie Louella Pierce Woody who preceded him in death as well as his dog and best friend of 17 years, Sundance.
Charles grew up in Cedartown, GA, was a 1962 graduate of Cedartown High School, served in the Army and reserves and attended West Georgia College. He was a HVAC manufacturer representative for SE US prior to moving to Orlando, where he met and married the love of his life, Patsy McGalliard. In 1992 they established Florida Professional Realty. The measure of his ultimate success, however, lies in the ripple effect of his love, laughter and life of service which will be felt for generations to come.
Charles always had a huge smile that was dwarfed only by his bigger than life personality. His passions included horses, photography, gardening, spending time with family and friends, cooking and entertaining. Many conversations ended with "Come over to the house for dinner".
His greatest love, however, was reserved for his treasured family, about whom he spoke with much gusto and gush. In addition to his beloved wife, Patsy, he is survived by precious daughters, Menta Knight (Michael) of Rome, Melissa Bestor (Larry) Sarasota, FL, great-son Travis Propst (Pam) of Vonore, TN, seven grandchildren, Ella and Logan Knight, Chris Propst (Codie), Aaron Propst, Alex and Mitchell Garrett and Chris Swank, 3 great grandchildren, Madison, Mason and Charlotte Propst.
Charles believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, was a man of faith and devotion to church, family and friends. He graciously served church and community. He was a member & Deacon of Downtown Baptist Church of Orlando, FL and attended St. James Episcopal Church in Cedartown. Charles was a leader and mentor but most of all a friend.
After moving to Rome, he became a member of The Exchange Club and Rome Social Club.
His last day was spent planting a butterfly garden for his beloved, Patsy. To him, butterflies represented Jesus resurrection, new life and freeing us to fly in new life. We love and miss you Charles.
