Paul Daniel Newell

Detective Paul Daniel Newell, 51 of Gravette, AR died on December 17, 2022. He was born in, Vallejo, CA on August 8, 1971. He was a Harley riding, two-stepping, cowboy boot-wearing, DJ/Karaoke king, who loved his family (especially the 3 princesses), brothers and sisters in blue, and his community which he served every day. Paul is survived by his wife Charlene Newell of the home; two daughters, Tara Hicks and husband Kenneth of Sulphur Springs and Tonya McGarrah and husband Shanon of Colcord, OK; Mother, Beverly Williams of Rogers, Father, Wayne Newell and Debbie of West Siloam Springs, OK; Brother, Michael Clark of Rogers; Brother, John Newell and wife Teresa of Rogers; Sister, Kimberly Henson of Rogers; three granddaughters, Kelli, Kinzie & Kaci; nieces and nephews.

Detective Paul Daniel Newell began his law enforcement career in the Detention Division with the Sheriff’s Office on December 1st, 1998, and later went on to graduate from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. He served as a Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Training Sergeant, Lieutenant in the Administration Division, and most recently, Detective assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. He was a certified instructor in numerous courses and placed a high emphasis on sharing his training and experience.

Detective Paul Daniel Newell graduated from Police Motorcycle Operator’s Course on November 10, 2006. After graduation, Detective Newell helped established the Benton County Sheriff’s Office Motor Division into what it is today. He was instrumental in the maintenance and operation of the motorcycles and in teaching other deputies and officers from surrounding agencies.

In 2018, he went to Daytona, Florida, and completed the master Motor Officer’s Instructor School. He graduated and came back to teach advanced motor operation procedures. Detective Newell did not stop learning and in 2021, he was sent to Harley-Davidson Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for technician training. He graduated and was certified as a Harley-Davidson technician. Since the technician school, Detective Newell has saved the Benton County Sheriff’s Office over $50,000 in outsourced mechanical labor.
