Norm was born on September 24, 1938 to George and Millie Jones in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He moved to the state of Washington for several years, then back to Alberta, graduating from Panoka High School in 1956. It was during high school that he developed a lifelong love for hockey.
Norm returned to the US and joined the Marine Corps in July, 1956, proudly serving for seven years. He always considered it an honor to have served his country as a Marine.
After his service, he began a 32 year career with IBM, working in computers in various positions. Norm’s problem solving skills, detailed research abilities and his constant desire for excellence allowed a successful, fulfilling career.
Retirement gave Norm time to serve his church, spend time with his family, volunteer in schools, travel and go camping. Serving his Lord and being with his family were his passions. Norm was a man of integrity, with a huge heart, and a deep love for his family; he touched the lives of countless people in his 84 years.
Norm was predeceased by his parents, George and Millie, his son Greg, his sisters, Eleanor and Leona, and his brother Ken. He is survived by his wife Jo, his sons Kirk (Yvonne), Tim (Kristen), and Loren (Michele), his daughters Elizabeth (Godfrey), and Christina, and his 13 grandchildren, Chloe, Tony (Paola), Celina, Grace, Cole (Kate), Luke, Bryce, Tyler, Noah, Zoe, Sophie, Liam, and Judah, his brother Bill and his sister Barb.
A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2022 at 2 pm at First Christian Church in Rogers, Arkansas. Donations may be made to Compassion, International or to the Marines Toys for Tots.
