Growing up, Lavona graduated from high school and later attended business school. She worked as a law clerk for many years, doing various secretarial work. Lavona married her husband, Earl, in 1949 and the two were happily married for 57 years. They raised three children, and Lavona worked hard to give them an amazing life.
In her spare time, she enjoyed playing card games of all kinds, including pitch, rummy, and many others. She was very talented at playing piano, and she even sang in the church choir. She was a devoted member of United Methodist Church in Rogers for many years. Lavona was a huge Packers fan and loved to watch sports. Above all else, the most important thing to Lavona was her family. She loved her family fiercely, and would always put others before herself. She made many sacrifices for her loved ones, and she is remembered for being incredibly kind and generous. She could put a smile on anyone’s face, and she brought comfort to those around her. Lavona will be so dearly missed by those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by: parents, Carl and Mabel Reed; and husband, Earl E. Grimes.
Lavona is survived by: sons, Reed Grimes (Patti), and Todd Grimes (Susan); daughter, Teri Brown (Brian); grandchildren, Collin Grimes, Chad Grimes, Cristin Sullenberger, Taylor Wynne, Cameron Grimes, Bailey Grimes, and Kayla Nyce; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private family service is being held at a later date, arrangements under the care of Rollins Funeral Home.
