I just found about his passing. Mr Phillips was my teacher all of my high school years from 1970 through my graduation in June 1973.  He was possibly the most profound teacher in my life.
He molded me in choir, made me part of the Concert Choir, elevated me to the All Girls Ensemble and made me the the Soloist for the Requiem performance at the Senate and White House in 1973 spring before I graduated. I will never forget his work and love and understanding for the young people that he had in his hands. He was truly a great man.

Dear Robert, Karen and Linda,

I was also one of your father's students in the Northwood High School Concert Choir (class of 1973).  Your father was responsible for helping me develop my love for choral music.  It it hadn't been for concert choir, high school would not had been enjoyable.  I remember your father with great fondness.  May his memory be a blessing.

I am sorry to hear of the death of your father. I was in his choir at Northwood High School (Class of 72). When he left Northwood suddenly, it really grieved my heart. He had such a profound impact on me and my understanding of music. He taught me everything I know about singing and always brought us to a high standard of excellence. I love vocal music BECAUSE of him. He was demanding of all of us. He was encouraging and he was fun. All of us wanted to give Mr. Phillips our very best. I am and will always be grateful for his positive influence in my life. My only regret is that I couldn't tell him that personally.

Sincere condolences on the passing of Mr. P. I've many fond memories of times and performances.

"Mr. P" taught so many of us to love and appreciate music in a way that I am still grateful for everyday of my life.  My prayers are with Rob and all the Phillips family on their loss.

We lived on Nursery Rd just down the street from Larry and Jean.  They were both wonderful people and great neighbors.  We are sorry for your loss.
