Joe spent his early life in Missouri, and joined the National Guard shortly after graduating high school. He fought for his country with honor and dignity, and he dedicated 20 years of his life to the Navy. He served in the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. Later in life, Joe worked as a security guard in Branson, Missouri. He enjoyed his solitude and loved to read books and go out to eat in his spare time. Joe was a devoted Christian, and he loved the Lord with all of his heart. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, A.G. and Alma Buttram; sister, Mary Frances Knisley; and brother, George Arless Buttram.
Joe is survived by: nephew, Jim Knisley (Kristal) of Snohomish, Washington; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Buttram of Miami, Oklahoma.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 22nd at 11:30am at Fayetteville National Cemetery, with full military honors to be rendered.
