Ed was preceded in death by his dear parents, Edwin and Winifred; beloved wife, Joan Mae Borton and son, Todd Kenneth Borton.
He is survived by sons, Scott Borton (Lisa) of Naperville, IL, Marc Borton (Tanya) of Rogers, AR, and Todd’s widow, Kathy of Winston Salem, NC. In addition, Ed had eight beloved grandchildren: Haley Borton, Sarah Sarsfield (Parker), Sam Borton, Michael Borton (Aubrie), Chandler Wagner (Matt), Riley Borton, Brock Borton and Brianna Borton. He was blessed with two great-grandchildren, James Wagner and Archie Sarsfield.
Ed loved Jesus and served the Lord by serving the church faithfully in whatever town he and Joann found themselves. Most recently he served as a deacon at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Dade City, Florida. Ed's impact was tremendous.
When Ed and Joann lived in the Chicago area they were avid boaters, taking many trips around Lake Michigan and other lakes and rivers, leaving them with (some harrowing) stories to tell.
Ed spent his career in sales at Abbott Laboratories for which his gregarious personality was a perfect fit. Whether on his boat or in his home, he was the ultimate host, providing family and friends with good food, good drink and good times.
Special thanks to Marc and Tanya for caring for Ed and providing him with joy over the past year.
Ed’s ashes will be interred at the Mountainside Lutheran Church in Linville, NC at a later date.
