Dot was born on October 30, 1942, in Alexandria, LA to the late Dr. Theodore Tannehill and Mary Allbritton Tannehill of Tullos, LA. Dot graduated from LaSalle Parish High School in 1960 and Louisiana Tech University in June of 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. On July 2, 1964, she married Donald Gene Spencer of Clay, LA. They had two daughters, Suzanne, and Cynthia.
Dot was a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mother who devoted her life to taking excellent care of her family.
Dot worked as a medical technologist, a church hostess, an elementary school tutor, and a dermatology assistant. She also was a phenomenal quilter and made personal quilts for all members of her family and special quilts for her grandchildren.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mary Tannehill, as well as her brother Theodore “Teddy” Tannehill.
Dot is survived by her husband Donald G. Spencer of Rogers, AR; her daughters, Suzanne Spencer Rector (David) of Rogers, AR, and Cynthia Spencer Rowatt (David) of Cottonwood Heights, UT; grandchildren, Emily Rector of Rogers, AR, Hannah Rector Weinzetl (Jake) of Rogers, AR, Katelyn Rowatt Keenan (Daniel) of Sterling, VA, William Rector of Springdale, AR, and Ian Rowatt (Mia) of Salt Lake City, UT; great grandsons, Lincoln and Kit Weinzetl of Rogers, AR; sister Jane French (Reggie) of Pineville, LA; brother Thomas Jensen Tannehill (Pam) of De Berry, TX; and multiple nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dot’s honor to Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, AR or the Alzheimer’s Association.
