Dorothy Margaret (Reinholdt) Rumohr, age 93, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Village on the Park Rogers after a brief illness. She passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus with family by her side.
Dorothy was born on February 22, 1931, to August and Anna (Miller) Reinholdt in LeMars, Plymouth County, Iowa, the first in her family of four brothers and a sister to be born in a hospital.
She attended K- 8th grade at Henry Township #4, a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Union Consolidated High School near Remsen, Iowa, in 1949. She was a cheerleader and basketball player.
She met the love of her life, Milton, in summer of 1950 while working at a home across the road from the farm of Milton’s parents. They were married on September 22, 1953, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa. Milton began his career in the US Air Force three weeks later. The life as an Air Force family took them to Texas, Oklahoma, California, Alaska, Virginia, Arkansas, Indiana, and Louisiana. After retiring from the USAF, they moved to Rogers in Northwest Arkansas. They enjoyed 36 years of family, friends, travel, and adventure before Milton’s death in 1990.
Dorothy was known for her friendly smile and her willingness to always help others. While not officially employed, Dorothy contributed tens of thousands of hours of service and volunteering to her children’s schools, her churches, hospital guilds, and many more organizations over the years. At her church, Peace Lutheran Church, she led Circle meetings, was an active caregiver through Stephen Ministry, served on the Altar Guild, sewed and donated hundreds of quilts with the Lily Pads group, and led Christian Goldies for many years. She “worked” as a volunteer at the gift shops at St. Mary’s Hospital and at Mercy Medical Center for over 37 years.
Family was always the center of life for Dorothy. She traveled to see her family wherever they moved. She remembered everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries. She always had a quilt or afghan prepared for the newest grandchild or great grandchild. Her home was always open for family for a visit or sometimes an extended stay. She also enjoyed spending time with friends playing cards or golf, going to lunch, or just enjoying a visit over a cup of coffee and a cookie.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her husband Milton Rumohr, her son, Craig Rumohr, her parents, August and Anna Reinholdt, and her siblings, Harry Reinholdt, Florence Heimgartner, Elmer Reinholdt, Clarence Reinholdt, and Walter Reinholdt.
Remaining to cherish Dorothy’s memory are children Mark Rumohr (Nina) of Springfield, VA; Keith Rumohr (Chris) of Lowell, AR; Barbara Jones (Rick) of Rogers, AR; Neil (Janet), of Louisville, KY; daughter-in-law, Paula Rumohr of Chesapeake, VA.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Brent, Lindsay, Travis, Garret, Rachael, Lauren, Andrea, Adam, and Allison; as well seven great grandchildren: Elliott, Cora, Brinley, Tristan, Leif, Eva, and Maya. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation with family will be held at Peace Lutheran Church (805 Olrich St, Rogers, AR) on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery (3800 W. Walnut St., Rogers, AR) following the service.
The family would like to express thanks and appreciation for the care and kindness of the many employees at Village at the Park Rogers – from CNAs, nurses, activity directors, to dining staff.
