Barbara Jean Craig Engler

Barbara Jean Craig Engler, age 64, of Bentonville, died March 15, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village. She was born in Bentonville on July 18, 1947, the only child of Edwin and Norma (Yates) Craig. Barbara grew up in Bentonville and attended Bentonville schools - she was always proud to say she was fifth-generation Bentonville. Later, she attended the University of Arkansas where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. Through the years she held various jobs, including 15 years in the family business, Black’s Ready-to-Wear, with her parents. Survivors include her husband, Bob Engler, whom she married in 1983; a daughter Ginger Eubanks, husband Darin, granddaughter Claire and grandson Alec, of Carl Junction, Mo.; a son, Craig, wife Shelly, and grandson Corbin, of West Fork; stepson Kyle, wife Anna Marie, grandson Robbie, granddaughter Nicole and husband Jared Ivie, all of Bentonville; stepson Jim and wife Trish of Lowell; stepson David, wife Mia, and granddaughter Gabrielle of El Cajon, Calif.; stepson Eric, wife Tracy, and grandsons T.J., Colton (Lucky) and Nathan of Wheatridge, Colo.; several cousins; and her beloved Aunt Pat (Patsy Reeves), youngest and last surviving of her mother’s five sisters. Barbara attended First United Methodist Church, Bentonville, and was active in several organizations there. She was a 40-plus-year active member of Chapter V, PEO, a women’s organization with emphasis on education. Interested in needlework since childhood, she began quilting in 1987, winning the “Best of Show” award in the Great Arkansas Quilt Show in 2007. Barbara was a member of the Q.U.I.L.T. Guild of Northwest Arkansas; Calico Cut-ups Quilt Guild of Bella Vista, Dogwood Quilters’ Guild of Siloam Springs; Pieces ‘n’ Patches Sewing Group of Rogers; Applikatz; and Material Girls, of which she was a charter member over 20 years ago. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville, officiated by Rev. Rex A. Dickey and Rev. Susan Ledbetter. Burial will follow in Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers.
