Thomas A. Lowe, Colonel U.S. Army (retired), passed away peacefully on September 4, 2017 following a brief illness. Thomas Lowe was preceded in death by Kathy his loving wife of 65 years. They had resided with their family in Satellite Beach since his retirement from the Army in 1973
Thomas Lowe was raised in West Virginia and Kentucky until he joined the U.S. Army in 1943. Following completion of basic training and Artillery OCS, he shipped out for the war in the Pacific and was a member of the America Division, where he participated in landings during the invasion of the Philippines and other Japanese held islands winning the Bronze Star for valor and other decorations. Thomas Lowe served his country during the Korean War and the Viet Nam War where he was again decorated and received his second Purple Heart. He served in numerous assignments throughout his career from battery commander to the Commander of the 75th Artillery Regiment, but his favorite assignment may have been leading the Strategic Studies Institute at the U.S. Army War College.
Following his retirement he became active in the Lions Club and helping the blind, where he was recognized as Lion of the Year for numerous projects he assisted with.
Thomas Lowe was not just a respected officer and warrior, but a good son, husband, father and friend. He was always willing to help others and demonstrated his love to all those privileged to know him.
