Sue Head

Sue was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 21, 1935. She was married to Thomas Head for 50 years until his death in 2001. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Merritt Island, and in the PTA for many years. She was also a bus driver with the Brevard County School District for 28 years. But Sue’s story really is all about her great love for her family and the impact she made in our lives and the lives of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. You couldn’t have walked away from Sue—or “Gree” as some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren call her—and not felt that you had just encountered an extraordinary person. Sue was fun-loving and quirky and loved a good laugh.

The most important dates on Sue's calendar were her great-grandchildren's sporting events, and she attended every single one she could. Sue was a voracious reader and a lover of word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed watching football, women’s soccer, baseball, and cozy murder mysteries on TV, knitting all the while.

Sue is survived by her children, Becky Locuson, Cindy (Doug) Owens, and Jenny (Don) Lusk; grandchildren, Meg (Brett) Viars, Philip Hope, Paul Hope, Jacob (Angela) Owens, Jill (Robbie) Youngkin, Adam Lusk, Anna Lusk. Her legacy will carry on through her 18 great-grandchildren, and her memory will be cherished by numerous extended relatives and close friends.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, their son, Mark Douglas, her son-in-law, Bruce, and a host of family members and friends she touched along her journey. We pray that they were all there to greet her into paradise.

A visitation gathering will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 S US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL 32955, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 AM.
