Richard was born to Rose and Michael Gentile in Brooklyn, NY. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Vincent and Joseph, and survived by his sister, Judith.
Richard graduated from Clemson University. He was enlisted in the US Air Force. He married Joan Nicolini, and together they raised five children, Karen, Michael, Brenda, Lori and Russell.
Richard was the proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Vincent, Monica, Lauren, Michael, Elise, Travis and Isabella. He also had nine great-grandchildren who brought much delight to him. Elliott, Violet, Matthias, Ember, Ezekiel, Brekkan, Lila, Eden and Knox.
He had a long career at the Kennedy Space Center working with the Air Force, then Grumman during the Apollo program. He was also employed with DiPrima Construction and then Lockheed Martin. He loved talking about The Constitution and teaching about its importance. As a Christian, he was very proud to have raised five God fearing children. He will be missed by many.
