Kathie Jolly was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 8, 1951, to John and Catherine “Kitty” McCarthy. She was the oldest of five siblings and played a large role in loving and raising her two brothers and two sisters. Family was always important to her, and she became the de facto family archivist and storyteller.
Kathie left this earthly plane on July 12, 2024, at the age of 72.
She enjoyed life and made everything an occasion to literally be “jolly.”
Kathie moved to the Melbourne area in 1987 and loved the Florida lifestyle. She pursued many career paths and passions working as a crossing guard, a security guard, in various administrative positions, and finally as a door-to-door notary. Prior to moving to Florida, she worked in New York City at the Star Magazine and enjoyed working with celebrities.
Ever the hard worker, Kathie earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2008 at the age of 57. She also served on the board of the Miller Media Corp for the past several years.
Kathie touched many lives through her volunteer service to others working with the Girl Scouts and the Indialantic Police Department including being the friendly witch “Witchy Poo” at their annual Halloween festivities.
She explored a few religious paths and was a shining example for how to be a loving, accepting person. If Kathie had two dollars to her name, she would always give one to someone else.
She loved movies and TV shows, especially anything science fiction, and was an avid Star Trek fan.
Kathie is survived by her beloved daughter Colleen Jolly who resides in the Washington, DC area.
A graveside service for Kathleen will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955.
