He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol; children Paul McGuire (Beth) of Melbourne, Beth Lee (Dennis) of Cocoa and Nancy Quillen (Tom) of Melbourne. Step children Dan Strickland (Terry) of Pelham, AL, Cathy Williams of Dunellon, Jeff Strickand (Jill) of Cocoa and Lori Gast (Jon) of Merritt Island. Eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Margaret; his brother Bruce of W. Lafayette, Indiana and his twin brother. Don of Centerville, Indiana.
John was born March 19, 1925 in Bicknell, Indiana to Paul and Myrtle McGuire. He graduated from Shields High School, Seymour, Indiana. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a graduate of Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Indiana.
In 1957, he moved his family to Melbourne to work for Civil Service at Patrick Air Force Station in Procurement. He later retired from Civil Service in 1987.
He enjoyed music, bowling, cars and basketball. Christmas was his favorite time of year and he enjoyed making candy for his family and friends.
A graveside service for John will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955. Interment to follow.
The family would like to thank Sodalis Senior Assisted Living and their dedicated staff for the care and love they gave John during the 7 years he made this his home.
Gratitude also goes to Health First Hospice of Cape Canaveral and First Light Home Care of Melbourne for the compassion and care they provided to John in his final days.
