She was born in the small village of Stare Drawsko, Poland which is in the administrative district of Czaplinek, born the daughter of Leon and Aniela Poryszewska. She immigrated to the United States in 1976 where she married Joseph W. Cereska in Satellite Beach, Florida.
Janina was a unique, charismatic, loving, and compassionate woman who was deeply loved by all who had the chance to meet her. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, shopping, being pampered at the salon, and spending time with her family as well as watching The Lawrence Welk Show and Jeopardy! She spent countless hours with her daughter and granddaughter, teaching them everything there was to know about life, cooking, the Polish culture, and the importance of being a giving and genuine person. She was so much more than loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Cereska, her daughter, Janina A. Cereska-Sygitowicz, and her parents, Leon and Aniela Poryszewska. Janina will be deeply missed and is survived by her daughter, Joslyn L. Barroso, granddaughter Kylin R. Barroso, all of Viera, Florida. She is also survived by her sisters, Ludwika Woznack, Danuta (Marian) Chowaniec, Elzbieta (Les) Chrzanowka, nieces, nephews, and many close family and dear friends.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:30AM on April 12, 2024 at The Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida. Following the gathering, a funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Melbourne, Florida at 1:30PM with calling hour beginning at 12:30PM.
