There are very few men who loved their faith, family and country as much as James Harris did. James was born on September 15, 1929 in Cordele, GA and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who always demonstrated a perfect example of strength through humility. He retired after 21 years of service in the US Air Force as a SMSGT and went on to spend 16 years with the US Post Office. His reward for a life well lived was meeting his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 6, 2016. Those who loved him have many sweet memories of tending the garden, playing Old Maid, watching Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C together and listening to his colorful stories and country sayings.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joyce, who he showed unending devotion to every day of their more than 62 years of marriage. James was “Daddy” to Jennifer (Mike) Ellenburg and Steve (Carmen) Harris, “Grandaddy” to Christy (Sean) Taylor, Mandy Ellenburg, Rebecca (Nick) Bocci and Travis and Emily Taylor. Waiting in heaven for him were his wife Joyce, his parents Sherrill and Lucy, and brothers Homer and Frank.
Join us as we celebrate James’ legacy and new life with Christ on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 1810 Cedar Drive, Rockledge, FL, with visitation for friends beginning at 10 am and service to follow at 11 am.
