Beloved husband of Janet (nee Abood) whom he married July 2, 1988; loving father of Stephanie, Kristin, and Jennifer; devoted son of Vera (late George) Antoon; dear brother to Rose (John), Patricia, Cheryl (Paul), and Robert (Rima), son-in-law of Rose Abood (late George), brother-in-law of Robert (Catherine), Caroline (Thomas), Gloria, adored uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.
George was born in Cleveland, OH and grew up in Elmhurst, IL in a Lebanese American family. He was one of five children with three sisters and one brother, beloved leader and protector of the pack. He was a 1978 graduate of Montini Catholic High School in Lombard, IL, and earned a Bachelor's degree from John Carroll University in Ohio where he played in the NCAA Division 3 Football and a member of Iota Beta Gamma Fraternity.
The most important part of George’s life was his lovely wife and three daughters. His successful career allowed their family to relocate from Sherman Oaks, California to Naperville, IL, then to Green Bay, WI and settle in Melbourne, FL. In addition to supporting his wife’s and daughters’ endeavors, he enjoyed volunteering in non-profit organizations through the Advisory Board of Confidence Eliminates Bullying, Inc. and as Director, VP and President of Baytree Community Association.
George served as President and COO for AlgiSys, an emerging company that produces Algal EPA and a high protein biomass to provide a sustainable and eco-friendly solution. Previously, he co-founded and served as the CEO of Algae Producers of America, a start-up company focused on growing and refining algae to commercialize new products for a variety of markets. George had extensive experience in manufacturing, business development, start-ups, and turnaround ventures and worked for companies such as Office Depot, May Company, Montgomery Ward, Global Cellular, and others. His colleagues remember him as “an exceptional leader with the rare ability to combine operational, financial and technical expertise into executable strategies that can be understood at all levels of a company.” George wanted to share his wealth of knowledge so he created Antoon Executive Management, a consultancy firm devoted to helping others achieve their goals and breakthrough ideas. He had profound respect for every individual he came across regardless of their position in life, everyone loved him.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2020, 4-6 PM at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 2, 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Melbourne, FL 32940.
Internment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church who will then make a charitable donation in honor of the late George Antoon.
