Edward Galvin Moore passed his last breath at 3:30 AM on February 11, 2018. He died comfortably in his sleep under the wonderful care of the hospice nurses at Cape Canaveral Hospital at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Ed was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1932. From a young age he had a love of hunting and fishing. Though he grew up in tough times, he was known for his sweetness and compassion. He worked his way through Boy’s Catholic High School as a school janitor, still managing to excel in academics and take care of his younger sisters and brother.
After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy where he was an electronics technician who flew into hurricanes aboard P2Vs and Super Connies. He used his GI bill to earn a degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State. He met the love of his life and constant companion, Sandra Lee Bond, at the Roman Catholic Students Organization on campus.
After graduation the newlyweds moved to Seattle, Washington and Ed began his engineering career with Boeing. Ed worked as an electrical engineer on every manned space mission from Mercury through the Apollos while living in Huntsville, Alabama. He continued working in the space program after moving his family to Rockledge, Florida so that he could work on the Skylab and Shuttle Programs.
His strong faith made him certain that his death would bring him to joyous life with Our Lord Jesus. Because of his strong faith, we his family, are certain that he is with Him in Heaven.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 10:30am at Our Saviours Catholic Church, 5301 North Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach, FL.
