His memory will continue through his family: his devoted high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Floretta; beloved father to Terry Jeanette Carter (Bill), Tammy Powley (Michael), and Tracey Thompson (Barry); dedicated grandfather to Miles (Anna), Ashley (Jeremy McCullough), Scott (Breanna), and Benjamin Carter; and Dalton and Jake Thompson; devout great-grandfather to Willow and Mason
Carter; Jewel, Ember, and Hawk McCullough; and Clementine and Alice Carter.
Chuck was born in Pueblo, CO, on August 28, 1934. He joined the Air Force and married his sweetheart. They left Colorado for their new life together in 1956, to Florida where he was stationed. He was in the Air Force and AF Reserves. They hauled a 27-foot trailer from Florida to California where he attended Northrop Institute of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering in 1961. This path led them to Texas, Alabama, and back to Florida. He worked for NASA on the design of the SATURN V Space Launch Vehicle Propellent Systems, was a Launch Pad Propellent Systems Engineer on the APOLLO moon missions, and a Space Shuttle Systems Engineer for pay load operations.
Always a dedicated worker, after retirement, for several years, he continued with various contract work throughout the country. Chuck loved studying up on space, history, and current events, but those close to him will remember him for his life-long dedication to the most important aspect of his life, his family. Everything he believed in, accomplished, and did was for them.
