William was a loving father and devoted husband. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army, serving in WWII in the 751st Tank Battalion located in Italy. He was a lifelong member of the VFW post 9759, Loves Park, IL and lifelong and devoted member of Beth Eden United Methodist Church. He spent many years as a over the road truck driver, hauling freight throughout the mid-west. In his later years, he enjoyed playing card games such as cribbage and euchre at tournaments hosted around town.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Norma A. Kitchen, daughters, Beverly Hopkins, Barbara (Chuck) Stenger, Marsha (David) Bailey, Judy (Scott) Shannon; sons, William J. (Dianna) Kitchen, Roger L. Kitchen and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
William is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters (except Leona), and granddaughter Megan Kitchen.
Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Friday, April 12, 2013 at Beth Eden United Methodist Church, 3201 Huffman Blvd. Funeral Service will be held at 10am, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Beth Eden, Pastor Doug Carroll will be officiating. A second visitation held 1 hour prior to service. Interment will be at Willwood Burial Park with a luncheon to follow at Beth Eden.
