Stephen “Steve” Hiner, Sr., 73, of Rockford, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening November 30, 2022 at Swedish American Hospital. Steve was born June 27 1949 in Rockford, IL, the son of Robert and Betty Hiner. He married Gloria McCullough on October 28, 1978 in Rockford. Steve was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, where he served as the President in 1978 and 1979, as well as the secretary for 10 years. Steve worked as an offset printer for many years, prior to retiring. He adored camping and woodworking, especially making derby cars. Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his children, Kelly (Douglas) Richmond, Gina (Steve) Niznik and Stephen Hiner, Jr; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Cheryl Medlock; as well as nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL 61102. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
