Laina Dorothy Scherer, 48, of Rockford, IL passed away at Swedish American Hospital on November 28, 2022. She was born in Rockford, IL on February 19, 1974 to Byron and Janis (Timmerman) Scherer. Laina attended Page Park School in Rockford, IL. She loved to sing when she was younger. Laina was saved in 1981 with her mom at First Assembly of God. She always enjoyed when her mom would come to visit her at Milestone. Laina will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Laina is survived by her mother, Janis; her siblings, Jayson Scherer, Lindsay (Adam) Yowell, and Christian Scherer; her niece and nephew, Addison and Greyson Yowell; her aunts and uncles, Don (Barb) Timmerman, Jeanne Cozart, Dean Timmerman, and Bobi (Tor) Edwards, and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Byron; her maternal grandparents, Donald and Dorothy Timmerman; and her aunt, Marjorie Strom.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to all of the staff at Milestone for all of their exceptional care and compassion they had given to Laina over the past 27 years.
Memorial Service for Laina will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St., Rockford, IL 61102. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will take place in the spring of 2023.
