Jean Y. Robertson

Jean Y. Robertson, 89, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023. She was born September 11, 1933 in Fairchild, WI, the daughter of Thomas and Cliffair (Boullion) Gorkowski. Jean grew up in rural Wisconsin, where they raised chickens. Jean graduated from Fairchild High School in 1951, where she was a gifted cheerleader. She married Daniel M. Robertson in 1952 in Rockford, IL. Jean was employed for Sears for 25 years before retiring. Jean enjoyed doing puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Cubs. When she was younger, she had a garden that she tended to with her grandchildren.

Jean is loved and missed by her son, Michael Robertson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) St. Jean, Daniel A. (Samantha) Robertson, Jonathon Robertson; step-grandson, Michael (Carolyn) Zasada; great-grandchildren, Brianna St. Jean, Jacob St. Jean, Braelyn Robertson and Alexander Robertson; sisters, Geraldine Kauffman, Virginia Harris, Theresa Adelman; sister-in-law, Beverly Gorkowski; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Daniel M. Robertson, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Zasada, one sister, Mary Ann Johnston, brothers, Thomas A. Gorkowski, Jon R. Gorkowski, Michael P. Gorkowski.

A celebration of life will take place September 23rd, 2023 from 11 AM to 2 PM, at the Boone County Museum of History, 314 S. State St, Belvidere, IL 61008. Memorials may be made out to her only son, Michael Robertson with "Celebration of Life" in the memo, 2808 Cameron Ave, Rockford, IL 61101.
