Dennis E. Swanson, age 84, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024. He was born October 15, 1939 in Rockford, Illinois to Mary (Wright) and Emil Swanson. Dennis married the love of his life, Laurene (Lindell) in 1961 and they spent 63 wonderful years together before his passing. Dennis worked at the post office as a mail carrier for 30 years before he retired.
Dennis enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and canoeing. He was an amateur photographer and loved trains.
He is survived by his wife, Laurene Swanson; children, Dale (Karen Plutz) Swanson, Deborah (Keith Haerle) Swanson, and Donna (Ken Mahnke) Swanson; sister, Cynthia (Bob) Stone; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Emil Swanson; and sister, Marilyn (Earl) Moore.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society in Dennis’ name.
A private family service will be held.
