Carl Joseph Kappen, age 76, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024. He was born in Freeport, Illinois to Albert and Muriel Kappen on August 7, 1948. Carl served his country in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971. He married the love of his life, Barbara Kappen on February 18, 1971.
Carl enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren on his boat. He also enjoyed his work as a mechanic and would spend hours in his garage at home.
Carl leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Barbara Kappen; children, Erik Kappen and Zachary (Kayla) Kappen; grandchildren, Tyler Kappen and Carter Kappen; and sister, Sharon Bramlett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Muriel Kappen; and brothers, Terry Kappen and John Kappen.
A visitation for Carl will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 7000 West State Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Carl will be laid to rest in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 West State Street, Rockford, IL 61102.
