Kay Myers, 79 of New Brighton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is now in the loving and gracious hands of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born August 20, 1944 she was the daughter of the late Roy D. and Alice Sheets. She is survived by her husband; Jonathan D. Myers. She will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted daughters; Janice (Ken) Madison of New Brighton, Julie (Terry) Hairston, of New Brighton. Step daughter; Moira of Ambridge, three sisters; Joyce (Will) Tutwiler of Rochester, Bobbie “Honey” Murphy of New Brighton, Diana Hillard of North Carolina, her very special grandsons; Jordy Madison, New Brighton, she was with him when he came into this world and he was with her when she left this world for Heaven, Tre’ Hairston of New Brighton, Camren Evans of New Brighton and Ter’ Jaymis (Desirea) Hairston of Center Twp. and four great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her grand dogs; Cooper and Ky who loved her as their GiGi along with many very special nieces and nephews, and many longtime friends who always spoke of her kind, loving spirit and willingness to always help others.
Kay was a very hard worker who was employed for over 61 years. She began working at Moretti’s Drug Store in Beaver Falls at the age of 15 then began her career in the admissions department at Rochester Hospital as a manager; then on to Heritage Valley where she became Director of Admissions and was honored as “Employee of the month/year”. She also worked part-time for a travel agency along with going back to college for her degree at Community College of Beaver County while working full-time. After she retired from Heritage Valley she went back part-time working the information desk, she loved working with people. She also worked as a care giver in private homes. After she finally retired she volunteered on Election Day at the Fallston Fire hall, and enjoyed going to dinner with family and friends and sitting on the porch working puzzles.
Kay’s faith and love for Jesus was the most important to her. She was a long time member of the New Brighton Free Methodist Church where she served on the hospitality ministry and also volunteered at the Soup Kitchen. Her favorite was working on the Bible Quiz Team as coach and traveled all over with her quizzers who she loved so much, the kids called her “Momma Kay” as she is still known. She loved going on the church retreats, she belonged to a club called Friends, Fun and Fellowship, which began in 1964, with some of her closest and dearest friends.
Kay currently was a member for the past 9 years at the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, where she was a member of the Hodge Band and the Ole’ timers group, she loved working the rummage sales. She loved her church so much. She enjoyed being Pastor Jeff’s “problem child” as he called her, she shared a special bond with Pastor Ron and her former Pastor Josh who was like a grandson to her.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home 273 Rt. 68 Rochester, PA and Friday, December 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM till time of service at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church 252 College Ave. Beaver, PA 15009.
Interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester.
