Helen Joann Papantonio Armstrong, age 89, passed away on September 5, 2023 in Tampa, Florida. Born September 29, 1933, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Brower) Huston. Helen was a graduate of Ambridge High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother (Ya-Ya), and great grandmother. She loved the beach, hot air balloons, taking hikes, gardening, knitting, fast cars, traveling, selling Mary Kay cosmetics and chasing after her grandkids and dogs. She was a devout Christian who loved God and was a member of the Grace Community Church of Cranberry. Most people knew her as Joann and loved her delicious Baklava. She was a kind, humble, loving soul who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; good friends, family, surprises and corn on the cob. She always had a smile for everyone and will be missed by all. She touched everyone with her loving kindness and compassion here on Earth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband; George Papantonio, and Doug Armstrong; a brother, Harold and two sisters; Dorothy and Carol.
She is survived by her children; Tony Papantonio of Seven Fields, Gus Papantonio of Pittsburgh, Mike Papantonio of N. Vernon, Ind., and Kathy Allen of New Port Richey, Florida. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, 1:30pm at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum).
