George (Eddie) Tanner, 69, of Aliquippa, passed away at home on December 14, 2016. Eddie was born on July 12, 1947 in New Brighton, son of the late James, Sr. and Evelyn (Powell) Tanner. He proudly served his county with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Eddie was awarded the Vietnam War Medal along with four bronze service stars.
He retired from Babcock & Wilcox, Beaver Falls and the La Quinta Inn, Moon Township.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law: Judy and Phil Monac; brother: Richard Tanner and sister: Wilma Collin.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years: Marilyn (Starr) Tanner and his canine companion: Nakayla; his son: Ed Stone, Evans City; grandchildren: Megan and Ryan Stone; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Stanley and Linda, New Brighton; James and Sandy, Midland; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Marilyn wishes to extend special thanks to Janet and Joseph Crocker; Cindy and Ed Stone; Jeff and Kay Bauer; Ray and Veronica Mazzetti; the staff of Mother Teresa Hospice for their loving care (especially Kelly and Gloria; Maretta Schriner; Brigitte Helliar and Jameka Willis.
In honor of his wishes private arrangements were by the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC. with interment in the John F. Kennedy Garden of Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Mt. Carmel Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2720 Brodhead Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001, with the Rev. Mike Anastas, officiating.
