John "Jack" E. Boss

He is predeceased by his parents Rita and Del and his brother Jimmy.

He is survived by his sister Mary Lou (Paul) Helberg, niece Karen Miller, nephew Kevin Miller and many cousins, especially Maureen Barry.

Jack attended Rochester City Schools and Gates Chili High School. He attended the ARC sheltered workshop program for many years and learned the skills to enable him to work at Uni Mail and Wegmans, helping hands.

Jack lived the last 16 years in group homes; Loden Lane, Birch Lane and for the last six years at Greenbriar. He loved making new friends and participating in the social activities at each of these group homes.

TO: Dr. Diego Cahn-Hidalgo for his many, many years of compassionate care for Jack and for all the extra effort he put forth in getting Jack the care he needed.

TO: Dr. Cahn-Hidalgo’s staff for always being so kind to and caring for and responsive to whatever Jack needed.

TO: All the staff at the group homes Jack lived in, especially Greenbriar, my deepest thanks. The former house manager James went above and beyond to provide Jack with the special care he needed. To all Greenbriar Staff; you took wonderful care of Jack with special thanks to Yolanda, Juanita, Latisha, Lily, and Sheri.

TO: The Hospice Team: Nurse: Kim, Social Worker JoAnn, Chaplain, Marianne, Nurse Practitioner, Jackie; Jack enjoyed your visits and your care. You truly brightened Jack’s days and supported his family. He also loved the pet visits from Marcia and her dog Roxie and music therapy from Kim. My deepest thanks to the entire Hospice Team.

A Committal service will be held at Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home, 2125 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624 at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

A private burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
