Margaret was born the daughter of William and Dorothy (Edson) Peacock in Washington D.C. on September 23, 1943. She graduated from The College of William and Mary with a degree in History. Margaret married Gregory Bartos in June 1965 and they raised their family in Michigan before divorcing. Margaret taught history for many years. In later years she coordinated senior activities for the Older Persons’ Comission (OPC) and the Independence Township Senior Center. Margaret was an usher at Meadow Brook Theater and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rochester.
Margaret enjoyed history and her community. She was involved with the Rochester Historical Society, the schools, and veterans groups. Margaret loved being a mother and Grandma. She cherished the additional time she had with her family following her cancer treatments 20 years ago.
Margaret is survived by her children Mary Beth Bartos, Greg Bartos, and Gary Bartos; daughter-in-law Micky Lee; grandchild Y Lee Bartos; siblings Louanne Harmon and Karen Scott; brother-in-law Michael Scott; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents.
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday December 22, 2024, from 1-5pm and Monday December 23rd, 2024 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. Interment will be private.
