He leaves behind his wife of 49 years Gail, stepdaughters Kim and Tamy; son-in-law Jeff; two granddaughters Tanya and Kaitlyn; a sister Patsy; brother-in-law Terry; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Jenny and brother Louis.
John was born and raised in Croswell, MI on a farm where they raised cows.
John’s love for animals started young and in elementary school he belong to the 4-H Club and had a pet calf named, Gerty.
After high school John joined the Navy and went on to honorably service his country for 4 years. Even after his term of service ended he remained in the Navy Reserve for several more years. He was very proud of his time in the Navy and was a member of the American Legion.
When he retuned from the Navy, John earned his Master’s degree from Central Michigan University became a biology teacher in Yale, Michigan and then counselor at Oakland Technical Campus in Clarkston, Michigan.
John was a member of the Elks and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed hunting for treasure both with his metal detector and at garage sales where he loved a good bargain.
His family and friends will remember him as one of the kindest nicest funniest people you could ever know. He will be missed but we are thankful he was here.
A private service will be held at a later day.
